John`s career began in public accounting where he provided tax planning services to high net worth individuals, closely held businesses and wealthy families.
After public accounting, John moved into real estate development where he served as Treasurer and subsequently as Vice President of Acquisitions and Development at Communities Southwest. As Treasurer, John was responsible for cash flow planning and performance reporting on over $100 million of investor capital. He developed a treasury management system, investing cash balances in excess of $20 million. Additionally, he implemented and monitored the Company`s 401(k) retirement plan. As Vice President of Acquisitions and Development, he negotiated purchase and sale agreements, developed economic feasibility analyses and performed due diligence on prospective acquisition candidates.
John graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting and completed his Masters in Business Administration in Finance at Arizona State University. He has earned both the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations. John served as a regular columnist for the CITY Sun Times in Scottsdale, Arizona and has been quoted in BusinessWeek Magazine. For the last seven listings, Medical Economics has selected him as one of the "Top 150 Best Financial Advisors for Doctors" and Reuters recently named him to their "Top Advisors" list.
John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Eller College Associates at the University of Arizona. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the University of Arizona Phoenix Alumni and as the Treasurer of Mountain View Presbyterian Church for 14 years.
John enjoys participating in various community service activities throughout the year and attending his three children's many sporting events and competitions (soccer, swim and gymnastics to name a few!).
